  1. So this is the new forum. I'm posting this because we're doing some final checks tonight and giving you all access in the morning. Regarding Post Counts: You're going to notice a few things right away outside of the new platform in general. The first is clearly your post counts, which are way less than they were before. There's a reason for this. We were missing about ten months of data but just recently recovered it (go us). This created problems with post counts, which we are trying to resolve. Additionally, post counts will likely never match the old totals. The reasons for this are technical, and not worth going into publicly. Don't Remember Your Email to Log In? Too bad, so sad. Kidding. Contact me using the Contact Us form at the bottom of the site and I will look up your account directly to let you know what your registration email was. I can also manually change your password, if need be. Miscellaneous Some of you may not have your avatars. Just re-upload them (or a new one). Your profile user fields might also be blank. Just input new data (if you even care). I'm sure there are other things we just haven't noticed yet. If there are specific things you notice — problems, missing data, whatever — use this thread to notify myself and the Staff, as we'll be working continuously over the next little while to attempt at recovering the lost data, as well as addressing these smaller issues. Going Forward We'll also be posting notices within this section to give you guys updates on new features as we continue to add them. One pro tip I can give you all: mark all the forums as read. This will allow your activity streams to start fresh so that new posts that are actually new posts are the only things entering it. We know change can be stressful. It's going to take a while for all of us to get used to this new platform, but I still firmly believe this is the right call for us, the loss of ten months of posts and topics notwithstanding. Also, first mother fucker that says some shit about how long this took is gettin' shot. Believe that.

  4. The Sabres should be unhappy because they're completely incompetent and do everything in their power to consistently make the wrong decisions in the front office and on the ice. They're the worst run sports franchise of this era (now that the Wilpons are out) and I can't believe the NHL hasn't stepped in already. They should let Eichel get the surgery because reality is he's already lost to them. If his career ends, what's the difference to them? They've already pushed his trade value through the floor so it's not like they're getting a huge return. They have an uncanny ability to constantly make poor decisions and then continue to employ the people making the poor decisions.

  7. In less than 48 hours, training camp begins! Physicals on Wednesday, on-ice on Thursday. Major questions: 1. Who will win the final D spot? We know that Fox, Lindgren, Trouba, Nemeth, and Miller are all locks, but there's fierce competition for that last spot between Lundkvist, Jones, Schneider, and Robertson. 2. The battle for the bottom 6. 3. - but who will it be!? 4. When will G1000 post the ballsy predictions thread? Perhaps the greatest drama of all.

  8. I don’t even know what you want anymore. The short of it is the vaccine curbs symptoms. People will not be in hospitals. ICUs will not be overrun. You can go back out to a restaurant, game, or concert without a mask if everyone is vaccinated. As you add unvaccinated people, you give the virus the avenue to survive and thrive, jumping person to person. You’re less likely to catch it, less likely to spread it, and less likely to get sick and die from it if you get a vaccine.

  9. The idea of the vaccine is to lessen the symptoms to the point where hospitals aren't full, and can treat the rest of the folks that need to be treated. The vaccine will "make it like the flu" instead of a deadlier virus with longer lasting and more deadly effects. If it's manageable like the flu where people stay home and recover, that's essentially neutering the virus so we can get back to some normal semblance of life before 2020.

  10. You can quickly change them to whichever is your preferred layout by scrolling to the bottom of the forum and tapping on "Theme." It will open up a drop down with two options available — Default, and Dark. It's possible I'll work on others in the future, but for now, these will be our standard options. Dark does currently have a bit of an issue with visibility within the Editor. I'll be adjusting that at some point to correct things, but overall, it should be highly-functional and beneficial for your eyes.

  11. Yes, you need players that bring what Trouba brings, but this is a money issue. Its not straight up Trouba > Schneider. It's Schneider @ $925k, + the ability to resign Fox, Laf, Kakko, etc > Trouba @ $8m.

  18. Who gets to decide what's acceptable? Should a person who thinks abortion is murder be able to go around punching doctors who perform abortions in the face? What about people who think that capitalism is responsible for income inequality and all the damage that goes along with that? Can they punch CEOs in the face? Vegans punching meat eaters? Atheists punching religious folks? I think it's totally appropriate to punch a Nazi in the face, but it is also appropriate that if you do that, you'll face legal consequences. The market place of ideas is the best option even for offensive speech. Because, again, who gets to determine which speech is offensive? Our friendly comedian there is being protected by the same concepts he's railing against. It's why he likely can't be arrested for inciting violence against Nazis.

  19. Just wish we saw the same force being used on insurrectionists that we did on BLM protests in various cities as well as clearing out a church for a photo op. Hope the police bring full force for this protest if it gets excessive, like they should've on January 6th.

  21. Yes, but reputation is slightly different on this software than it was on the old platform. I still need to do a deeper dive into this to fully understand its depths, but practically, the heart button you see at the bottom right of every post is reputation. They're called reactions. They can be positive, neutral, or negative, but we've disabled negative (so that rep can only be positive, and can't be subtracted from). My guess is that neutral reactions are effectively "negative" in that they won't give you points (reputation), but won't subtract from your total either. Positives (Like, Thanks, Haha) will give you reputation points. You can also view reputation leaders from the Leaderboards link in the nav at the top of the site. I'll eventually post up a kind of tutorials/feature update in the Support Center explaining this all once I get a chance, but the only real change to reputation is you can no longer write a custom message to send the user with it.

  22. I think this amounts to Reaves vs Wilson, Wilson being too stupid to walk away, and it ends after one tilt. If the Rangers were smart they'd just pound Backstrom, Calrson, etc. But hockey teams are rarely smart.

  23. It's simple; Each position is worth X amount of points. You must get the line and the side correct in order for the point to count. In game changes do not count; must be the officially listed game day line-up as presented before the game begins. The person(s) with the most points accrued is the winner(s). Submissions must be in before the opening night roster is announced. Winner will be announced after game 1 of the season. You win and everyone rep's you. 26. Another positive about this new layout is that I can see the text of tweets now! Twitter is blocked at work, so I couldn't see the embedded tweets or anything like that. But now, it at least displays the text so I can read it! Woohoo! Edit: Irrelevant to the thread, but I just wanted to exclaim my excitement.

  27. Reeves at 35 is the equivalent of Chara at 44. Both are done. Optimism springs eternal when it comes to Islanders hating. They still haven't gotten someone to play with Barzal. Palmieri is no answer. The departure of Leddy will hurt an offense that was often already quiet at key times. All of these guys who excelled in the playoffs will not necessarily do so every year (even if the team is "built" for the playoffs). Look at Claude Lemieux's stats: a number of excellent playoffs, for which he is known, but a number of forgettable ones as well. Cool it with the Lou L. cult. He left the Devils a mess and left Toronto the antithesis of a team built for the playoffs. GMs are not necessarily good forever. Slats and Bill Torrey did not have a lot of success after their dynasty years.

  34. Most likely yeah, but its not normal with more than 3-4 rookies making the team anyway. For the future I think there's a lot of guys here that can make the team. Im not saying they will be stars, but we need bottom 6 and 3rd pair guys on the team aswell. Barron, Cuylle, Othmann, Henriksson, (Pajuniemi, Khodorenko, Lamb), Jones, Lundkvist, Robertson, Schneider, (Skinner, Reunanen) all have decent shots at making the NHL someday. Compare that to the development camps from 5-6 years ago and we've come a long way lol.
