  1. I mean, I don't know how you can give him credit or blame for anything while he wasn't the final decision maker. That makes no sense. Buch was obviously not an "unwanted player" unless you're talking about the other 31 teams in the league. And one player does not make a track record. The Kravstov situation has yet to unfold. Lundqvist and Jones are highly touted prospects and Chytil is on the NHL team? Sounds like you wanted him to sell the farm for this one season? Undo what's been done for the last 3-4 years? I'm genuinely confused as to why you're calling those players "not needed" when they're major pieces of our farm system. I'm not even gonna touch Reunenen because I don't think you can even pretend to be upset about that deal.
  2. Curious what proof there is of this. Drury's been GM for less than a year.
  3. I mean, how many shifts did he have at center? 5? Doesn't really prove anything. I'm surprised Gallant didn't let it play out longer.
  4. Barron stinks. And frankly this is a great opportunity for the Rangers to see if they want to resign Copp at 5 x 5 instead of Strome at 6.5 x 6. they've got 16 games to figure out if Copp is a 2nd line center.
  5. It's really not a big deal. Backup goalies are bad. If Shesty got hurt in the playoffs they'd be doomed no matter who they threw in there.
  6. The team is just so much deeper now, it's crazy. Geo shits the bed and they can still score 5. Good sign.
  7. This, and they did use it. They didn't have to ask anyone to retain salary and therefore they didn't have to overpay.
  8. I mean I know Vancouver fans feel like they got robbed.
  9. Vancouver fans are very pissed, so I consider this a win.
  10. A. He gave up basically nothing to bring in 5 players.
  11. Wait, the Rangers got someone? How? I thought the deadline ended 3 hours ago
  12. You're acting like you've never witnessed an NHL deadline before. We've had deals announced AFTER the deadline has passed in recent years.
  13. We've got all day. And even if we didn't make any moves, personally, I'd be fine with it. I'm not interested in trading our 1st. So, if people are asking for a 1st or nothing, I'd rather have nothing. IMO, this team has a 90% chance of going out in the 1st round, no matter who they get. We all know it takes many years to build up to that playoff-worn, cup caliber team. We're just not that.
  14. It doesn't have anything to do with Drury. He wanted to go to Toronto. Much like Giroux wanted to go to Florida. These guys have earned that right to choose. I feel like Rangers fans assume every trade revolves around the Rangers somehow... Unrelated, but It's funny to me that everyone thinks Drury sucks and yet they want him to make trades. How does that logic work?
  15. All major pieces? Barely any trades have happened. Domi, Rakell, Lehkonin, Giordano, Copp, and a bunch of others are still out there. All of which could help bolster this lineup that has basically been MacGyvered together with spare parts and Greg McKeggs for the last 2 months.
  16. I can't imagine a guy can play for one team while someone else pays his entire salary. This feels like clear and obvious cap circumvention. As of right now, I'm not sure what to make of the cap situation next year. I thought Strome would be locked up by now, but I'm starting to wonder if they might be looking at a 3C that could fill that role if Strome walks.
  17. I'm starting to hope more and more that we don't make a "big" splash. I'm fine to move a defensive prospect or two or a 2nd round pick, but I'm not interested in giving up a 1st for anyone at this point. The Vatrano move was solid and I hope if they bring someone else in, it's a move similar to that one. Low risk. High reward.
  18. Really good use of capspace by Drury. We have a fuck ton. We help Florida remove him from their books and give them basically nothing in return.
  19. I'd consider that a massive overpayment for a year + of JT miller. Especially since we already had Miller and gave him away. If you don't want JT Miller remorse, you can't give up the farm for JT Miller.
  20. He makes 10.5 mil. Even if the Hawks retain half the salary, which doesn't happen often, it still creates a problem for next year and beyond.
  21. I'm not sure what the point of making the playoffs is if you're not in the mindset of "going for it." Do I think this is the Rangers year? No. But why the hell not take a swing or two and see if you can't surprise some people? We've got so much cap space, it would be insane NOT to spend some of it. So long as the major players on the team stay put and it's only prospects and picks going out the door, I'm 100% on board with going for it.
  22. 4-8 starts would likely be the difference between home ice advantage vs. Pitt or potentially having to play the Canes on the road. This could be the difference between a decent run and a quick exit. It is what it is. He our backup. He's worthless. There's nothing we can really do except find someone better next season and hope for the best for now.
  23. It's ugly but I don't think it's dirty. If you're going to reverse hit/or interfere with Lucic I think you need to be prepared to get blasted.
  24. I don't know why goalies don't get more Hart votes, IMO they're the most important part of your team. If your goalie sucks, you ain't winning shit. (see McDavid and the Oilers)
  25. I dunno if I buy the "they support Putin" line. Seems more like the whole thing is a giant headache they don't feel like dealing with. I don't agree with the strategy, but they're not Putin apologists, just cowards.
