Article Rangers Could Benefit From Patrik Laine Addition
Drew a Penalty replied to RangersLEETCH's topic in New York Rangers
There are posters on this site who’ve written for the Hockey Writers. It’s a blog not an organization. It’s not at all akin to reading from Brooks or Mercogliano who are actually plugged in and have team sources. Anyone on the Hockey Writers has as much team access as any of us. -

Yep. Goodrow and some picks for Laine is something I'd expect from a Facebook post. -

He does. He just hasn’t exceeded 30 days on the roster and 10 NHL GP this season. Once he hits those he’ll need waivers to go back down. -

Cuylle didn't play the final 10 and Pitlick the final 7. I'm assuming it's one of them. -

Edstrom is sick. He was out for Hartford the last two nights. -
The Pack is Back — General Hartford Wolf Pack Discussion

Hartford wins 5-4 in OT with two goals from Othmann. He had 8 shots tonight. Henriksson had a really nice tip and Berard had a snipe after his first shot attempt was blocked. Pack have won 6 in a row. -

He's also just at the bottom of a depth chart of guys who are on the small side and play a similar style/role. Sykora, Berard, and Henriksson are all better, and Korczak might be getting there too. Sykora is the biggest of the group at 5'11" 192 lbs while Trivigno is the smallest at 5'7" 167 lbs. -

He has some skill, but it hasn't amounted to anything. Other young players are playing bigger roles. -

He's relentless and physical but I haven't seen rat out of Sykora yet. He's more annoying because he's always in the play and less because he's purposefully trying to agitate. Maybe that'll come as he gets more comfortable. He looks more like a defensive specialist who could also be a Lady Byng contender — he doesn't take penalties. -

The whole team is scrappy. Especially the little guys. Trivigno runs his mouth a lot. -

Pack won 7-3 tonight. Big games from the kids. Sykora with 2G + 2A, Korczak with 1G 2A, Othmann with 1G 1A. Since I made this post he's played 4 games and has 4 goals, 2 assists, and 19 shots in that span. He scored a really nice goal on the PP tonight where he stepped into the slot and roofed it. You can tell that he's starting to get a feel for his shot. Sykora is heating up too. He has 9 points in his last 10 games. He's the youngest player in the AHL so it's awesome to see him thriving. He was playing top PK tonight and 2nd PP unit. He always lives up to his billing as an absolute pain in the ass. He's gonna be such a fan favorite with how he's been getting the Hartford crowd going. I also wonder if this is a breakout game for Korczak. He looks pretty tenacious and has a good stick. It would be nice to have a center prospect show some talent. I'm not expecting too much from him, but it'd be nice after he struggled to stick last year and went back to junior. -
And Miller.

Gaborik and Zuccarello didn't overlap that year, Kreider was a rookie in the playoffs, and Miller was drafted in 2011 and not a regular until 2015. Torts lost the room, but that team suffered from a complete lack of depth, leading to the Gaborik trade.

I don't know if anyone here is going to be at the game, but your best bet would be any of the honky-tonks on Broadway. All of the action is there.

The Rangers had the best fourth line in the league for years until Glass started stinking it up. He's not the worst, but he was total dead weight.
-
Tanner Glass. Signing him was already too much.
-
Other teams have had good alternates in the last few years. This isn't a league issue. This is a Rangers problem. Let's see what they vomit out for the Stadium Series.

I like the idea of using the crest. This is just the worst possible execution of it.

The Heritage jerseys were absolute perfection. Agree that they're trying too hard for modern looks. They're so limited with what they can do with designs that these modern takes just don't work. The last three jerseys have relied entirely on the sleeve piping to provide any other color or design aside from the logo and base jersey color.
-
They haven't made a good jersey since the 2018 Winter Classic.

Yeah, it absolutely makes sense to run the same system. There was certainly a lot more of a throughline when Gernander was supplying Torts with players. Last few years there hasn't been much of a system to replicate or talent to really execute it. There's a really good mix of veterans and prospects in Hartford right now that are really buying into an engaging style of play.
