  1. In my research, they say Stamkos may have just fractured his tibia when he hit the post and then made it worse by trying to stand. With the fracture, it would have been put in a cast for weeks, which would have the end result of muscle atrophy from not using the leg. Trying to stand displaced the fracture, requiring a rod to be placed in the bone. Although the surgery to place the rod is more invasive they say it actually has a quicker recovery time since you can walk on it sooner than the cast route, thus not needing to rebuild the leg's strength. With the way Sergahev's foot bent the wrong way, I'd guess he'll get rods placed in the tib and fib. My sister had this done after a skiing injury. My brother in law says when he got to her she was lying on her back and her foot was flopped to the side flat on the ground. All that said, probably a similar timeline to Stamkos.
  2. True, I'm still skeptical of a guy that didn't even attempt to leave Columbus though.
  3. Didn't we decide last year not to go after guys that spent their whole life with one team? This is a dude that chose to resign in Columbus a year before he could have tested free agency. He doesn't want to leave Columbus. Is that really the guy to target? Plus he's been banged up a lot the last 4 years.
  4. That's relative. They're using the money now for a 30 yo, but they're able to get youth back in the actual trade. If you envision a lineup next year of... Panarin - Lindholm - Laf Othmann - Zib - X Cuylle - Tro - Vesey Then the question is can you get a young cost-controlled RW back in the Kreider trade to fill in X? Maybe they move Miller in the offseason to fill in for X and replace Miller in the Kreider trade. Lots of possibilities.
  5. Yes, but guys you 'expected' to be career Rangers. That's the only reason I brought them up. McD was 28 and the captain. As you've stated, if Drury wants a culture shift and to start moving away from Gorton's guys Kreider is the first to go.
  6. I don't think that's true. Organizationally, they traded Leetch and bought out Hank. For Drury, this would be his version of the letter and trading McD. He'd be clearing the path for his 1st 1st round pick and sending a message to the remaining vets. At the same time, he could recoup many of the assets he'll have to give up for Lindholm.
  7. It's this. Tro has been great....but we know what Lavi envisioned. Chyitl was 2C until he got hurt and Tro started on the 3rd line because of their desired usage. Additionally, Panarin is what's working there's not some untouchable chemistry going on. While Tro has 46 points he's been incredibly streaky. 18 points in his first 13 games there. Then 7 points in the next 11 games (which included 3 assists in 1 game so 4 points in the 10 others). Then he went nuts again with 14 points in 9 games. Now 3 points in the last 6. Also, add in the fact that Tro leads forwards in TOI because he's used frequently for DZ draws. Now if you add Lindholm, you get a guy that's still good on draws for Bread in the OZ and relieves some of that burden on Tro. You get an actual C that can win a draw for PP2. You get a guy that's proven he can score with talented players. Lavi can go back to his desired role for a 3rd line. Cuylle and Tro would terrorize teams, always looking over your shoulder for Cuylle coming to cremate you and if you get past him Tro is there to annoy the everliving shit out of you. I'd love Kakko on that line and really don't want to move him, but if it's required to get Lindholm so be it.

  9. Lindholm doesn't have to be a rental. I wouldn't be opposed to this next year: Panarin - Lindholm - Laf Othmann - Zib - Vatrano Cuylle - Tro - Kakko Trading Krieder recoups assets you spent on Lindholm and gives you money to keep Lindholm.
  10. And two years ago he scored 31. Playing with Panarin instead of the crap in Calgary will change that.
  11. He's not a kid. He's 27. It's super unrealistic to expect him to maintain how he played on a consistent basis.
  12. An outdoor game with the snow capped mountains would look pretty cool.
  13. The Delta Center sucks for hockey. If you've watched any of the preseason games they've played there the stands block the camera view of the corners. But as it says that would just be temporary until a new arena is built. As far as the market we have an ECHL team, in a less than ideal location, that draws over 5k in attendance. The Jazz consistently average 18k in attendance. I think they'd easily be able to draw similarly for a NHL team. An NHL arena in Salt Lake City or Draper would offer far more in terms of other attractions than the ECHL arena location. Everything is about the 2034 Olympics. I think a fancy new arena gets built regardless.
  14. People keep saying this. Quinn sucks. GG never lasted any more than 3 years. How are they relevant?
  15. Hard to say 9 drafts. Looking at 2020, there are only 2 non first rounders that have played more than 80 games and one was the 3rd pick in round 2. If you're looking for good late round picks gotta give them 4-5 years to develop. There a good number of kids with a shot in that group.
  16. Just because he shouldn't unseat someone off the league's top PP =/= he wouldn't produce on the PP
  17. To my point: 2007: Gange #6 2009: Paajarvi #10 2010: Hall #1 2011: RNH #1 2012: Yakupov #1 2013: Nurse #7 2014: Draisaitl #3 2015: McDavid #1 2016: Puljujarvi #4 2018: Bouchard #10 2019: Broberg #8 They just happen to suck long enough until they sucked in the "right" years. Even with their generational centers they missed the playoffs 3 times, lost in the Covid qualifying round, lost in the first round, lost in the second round twice, and made one conference final. The Rangers had 4 down years and were back in the conference finals. Does Edmonton have more to show for it? Toronto missed the playoffs 10 out of 11 years. All they have to show for their draft picks is 1 playoff series win. Just because they have flashy names doesn't mean they were any more successful at rebuilding than the Rangers.
  18. This is the kind of thing that's keeping the argument going, lol. Paranin is 3rd in the league in assists going back 5 years. Laf obviously isn't bumping Panarin off the PP. That doesn't mean that Laf doesn't own that skill set and would be ineffective being the distributor from the circle.
  19. Well, he plays Panarin's role on the 2nd unit. We've already addressed the 2nd unit's usage, and he is trying to feed Brodzinski and Wheeler on the 2nd unit. No wonder it looks like ass. Now Kakko is back we'll see how it looks going forward, hopefully they get a center soon.
  20. The only real mistake was Andersson over Necas, Suzuki, and Thomas. Laf and Kakko were must picks. Nothing really worth crying over after Krav as far as forwards. Add that to the fact they are 5th in the league in wins over the last 3 years. That's preferable to me rather than drafting in the top 5 for a decade until a true generational player comes along.
