So, in a nod to symmetry ( or is that non-symmetry ) the northernmost team in the NHL will play the southernmost in the Stanley Cup finals.

Oddly, the Oilers-Stars series seems to be writing the same story. Dallas was the better all season team and, while they’re playing better than the Rangers did, they’re already down 2-0 tonight to Edmonton at home. Right now it looks like Panthers - Oilers, both not #1s seeds in their conferences.

Looking back, things for the Rangers might’ve actually started to come apart after the 7 game win streak in the playoffs. They then lost 2 to the Canes after going up 3-0. Played one strong game to end that series, but then looked shaky thereafter. Were arguably outplayed the whole series, losing game 1, winning 2 and 3 in OT, but lost 4,5,6. The handwriting was apparently on the wall back in the Cane series after going up 3-0.

The writing was on the wall when they got manhandled at home in game 5. That was realky the one they had to win and couldn’t.

Hockey should not be allowed to be played in Florida. Makes no sense. (lol)

Actually if you think of it rationally that should matter more — excellence over 82 games instead of a handful at the end if the season. Oh well.

Should have played like that the whole game. Where was that desperation?

I still say you’re as addicted as the rest of us. I go farther back than you. But the fact that you go back to ‘79 says you won’t be able to stay away.

It’s just a bit over the top to call this group “losers”. By that definition only the cup champ is a “winner”. I understand disappointment but it’s not all or nothing at all. We still lack enough muscle to keep the bullies at bay.

Well… guess I’ll root for the Oilers to bring the Cup back to Canada.

Why can’t we have nice things?

I’m sure the Rangers wanted it but the Panthers played like they wanted it more.
