What does it say to any of them when Kakko had statistically one of the worst seasons in the league his rookie year and the team keeps chugging along with him and we hire Tuomo Ruutu to transition him along? Hell Kakko in his rookie year opened up to a Finnish newspaper himself publicly after like 3 games into the season saying he was frustrated about lack of minutes understanding that he isn't playing well but it would be cool to get first line minutes. Yet Kravtsov himself hasn't said anything publicly but we vilify him now when, if anything is true about his exit interview, it was private and leaked by the team themselves since no journalists are at exit interviews. That's trash to me and very unprofessional. A 20 year old being unprofessional I can understand. A 100 year old organization I cannot. Every player is a different situation. It's not all round peg round hole. That's the job of the organization to fully know that. The point isn't whether Krav is dictating anything. It's about how dumb of an idea it was to demote him right now in the first place when he did everything they asked the last year and a half knowing you'd lose him. An olive branch right now might have went further after the last two seasons. They have no problem extending some serious special treatment for other people. We discussed this ad nauseum yesterday. I think it’s important to remember this is a kid, and a kid that is new to North America, this culture, the language, and everything. We saw it with Andersson in a similar situation. There were worries with Kakko himself for being so young and new to this culture and we saw major struggles in his game. So much so that some were hoping for a Finnish teammate just so he felt more comfortable. Hartford is a very different place than being around the big club. A conditioning assignment in Hartford is also a different situation than regaining conditioning in New York. I still believe this ultimately is on the organization. If it’s a pissing match, then we are losing a top tier talent in a position we aren’t exactly deep in because grown adults would rather take a stand rather than mend fences. In the end both parties lose.
