I'm aware they were "trending down" but the point of this league is to win championships, not trend anything. It's not really that hot of a take. The year before the lightning won the cup they were bounced by the blue jackets (fixed typo from phone). A couple of years before that they didn't even make the playoffs I believe. I'm not going to change my mind because two seasons from now we win our division. We weren't that far removed from a finals appearance, already had Ziby, Miller, Sheshterkin in the system, 26 year old kreider, Hayes, Buchnevich, ADA, 28 year old McD, Chytil, Pionk...... It wasn't a team of aging guys. It had a decent mix. I'm not even saying to not trade Nash because he was done. I'm saying it wasn't a team that needed a tear down. New coach and a retool would have been fine to make another cup run.

The letter and subsequent rebuild. How many times did it take the Lightning before they finally won? No letter and no tear down means we likely retain Miller, we alrwsdy had Ziby, we likely still get Fox since he had said he only wanted to be a Ranger, we never get Quinn in all likelihood, likely never get Trouba and his contract, and we might have had 3 seasons of playoffs and potential adding to a team that had already been to a finals.

Yeah. I’d assume kreider would be a salary dump type trade with him being around 33 by then and oft injured oft not give a fuck type seasons. Trouba who knows.

That was my line of thinking also and why I said it’s overkill with Reaves. We had addressed toughness/aggressiveness already in the offseason. Wilson is a hockey player, not just a puncher. Reaves presence didn’t stop Wilson in game 1 of the finals from going after Marchessault so I’m not sure why years later we think it’s going to make much of a difference. Reaves presence certainly isn’t going to stop the hockey side of Wilson’s talent either.

Honestly, every Yankee fan should hope they continue this shit show of a season and embarrassment. Cashman and Boone just have to go and the team needs to be torn down and just done right. It’s absolutely insane how they’ve ruined this team.

When was Georgiev ever on fire? Only one 5 game stretch did he ever post a save % of over .900. The rest of the year he never had back to back games with a save % over .900 He can’t do it twice in a row. That’s always been one of his biggest problems. Give me Lundqvist over that sieve any day. I don’t care if he’s 40. I’m tired of seeing Georgiev getting torched for having the worst angles I’ve ever seen in the league

Absolutely. Over Georgiev? Kinkaid? Yes. Without a doubt. I proudly admit I was wrong about Henrik. While his best days are behind him, Georgiev turned out to be what some others saw a lot earlier than me; a goalie that could never carry a load where inconsistently is his only consistent attribute. If I had to win a tough stretch of games, even at a diminished level I’d still take Henrik over what we already have.
