  1. This is going to last all night. When is Xavier McDaniel coming out for a pick
  2. How are you keeping Strome and paying Gourde 5m too ? Chytil isn’t getting a big bump regardless in this coming contract so they aren’t remotely an even swap
  3. He’s a def upgrade in the sense offensively he’s a better goal scorer technically since he’s twice potted 20+ goals. He’s also cap controlled reasonably but he’s a bit past prime on a bell curve. Leadership is a wash. Strome is a leader for us in my mind. I’d pursue it simply because it gives a better picture from a cap perspective but all being equal I’d prefer a hungry Strome to a guy who never played here.
  4. There is something very valuable to teams line us for cap controlled players moreso than a team starting from scratch with a boat load of players to chose from. I'm not suggesting an A prospect or anything. Just might be a future
  5. That's my understanding of it. If you trade for Gourde but have to expose him then what's the sense of trading for him? In other news, there is no reason the rangers couldn't call up Seattle right after and say Strome + for Gourde and tell me what the + is....or hell, move Strome to Rw whi h he's played before and offer Buch +
  6. Gourde means goodbye to strome +. In a vacuum that's fine because I'd rather have a cost controlled Gourde but it's the + they would want. I dont even think they would want Strome but cap wise he would have to go in a separate deal just to be under with our other necessary signings/moves this offseason. Plus we could lose him anyway as well no? Didn't he waive his ntc?
  7. If it’s in the 3.6m aav I’m fine with it. If it’s overpayment, it’s by a few hundred thousand, not millions so I’m fine. I still hope they get one more tough body and or faceoff specialist like a Glendening. Personally I think Blackwell is good as gone to Seattle and I’m okay with that. He was a nice find but he won’t be here past next year regardless when his contract is up. I’m looking for guys to be here long term and solidify our future. Goodrow is here to stay and I’m A ok.
  8. The more I think about it the more I’m starting to agree with you. It’s just a shame though. Tbh, I think Quinn inflated a few guys value by overuse. Buch is at the top of that list. Playing him in every scenario and basically rolling him in every situation similar to Dubinsky and Torts makes a players value a bit inflated. I don’t, nor will I ever doubtfully, think Buch is a top two way player in this league. Yet his stats somewhat show he is with the SH stats being what they are. Still, it’s easier for me to commit to guys I know have performed here rather than trade for similar stats on other teams hoping it translates here in New York which doesn’t always pan out.
  9. Yes and no. Buch is an rfa and likely isn’t getting more than a 2 year. That gives two years for a guy to elevate his game to the point where it’s necessary to trade a Buch before he is a ufa. Strome and ziby are both centers and while they are going to take up cap space, any two top 6 will. I just have a feeling Zib and Strome will be cheaper than Zib and X unless x is Chytil. I’m note sold on him though and I personally think he’s a poor fit here especially at center. Those are all strong points and is really are biggest problem. Cap space. However. If we look long term in the concept of around the league, I’m willing to bet a large chunk of teams have this exact problem sans the Ottawa, Buffalo, and Detroits’ of the world. If you want to get rid of Buch to anticipate the future then that’s okay. However, it can’t really be for another contract since it essentially recreates the same problem. That is unless you get a cost controlled diamond in the rough guy signed long term for a bargain which is rarer than my wife staying awake past 9pm. I still believe that next offseason’s flat cap for another year is going to reduce salaries for top ceiling deals even more. I guess my point is that I really don’t want to see us look to replace our top 6 with guys from outside when we have a formidable one now and guys in the wing. If you want to say goodbye to Buch because you believe Kakko is ready in year 3 then I’m all on board. I’m just not on board with obtaining another guy not already here.
  10. That’s all true and I get that but we keep but I honestly believe our best chance to keep these core in the top 6 is to roll the dice and keep them together hoping they take a bit less from loyalty and flat cap. The moment you start bringing in others that also are going to need a new contract, you’re telling the remaining an attitude of being replaceable. That leads more to a fuck you pay me attitude. These are unique times in flat cap eras and we might just be able to benefit a bit by security over top dollar with guys already here.Bottom 6 are more interchangeable than top 6, especially in a time where mid tier players can’t look to cash in as easily.
  11. Our top 6 is not our problem. Why are we always looking to reinvent our biggest strength? We were in the top tier or goals scored last year while missing Ziby and Panarin for chunks of the year. Bottom 6 is our problem. Checkers, role players, and guys that give pk rests and win faceoffs. Fixing that keeps our top 6 playing minutes it’s suited for and keeps them fresh for important minutes. Unless someone is wowing me with a top 6 replacement that checks 2+ roles like a Tkachuk, I leave our top 6 alone as much as possible. Sometimes leadership arrives from within as time goes on from a group.
  12. 100% expect them to add both Suter and Parise along with keeping all their guys. They are going to be beastly next year. Ugh. Just replace Palmieri with Parise and Leddy with Suter. Nice little upgrade.
  13. Honestly if you trade Strome, it better be for a significant upgrade that is a no brainer in my opinion. He's been great here, a leader for what it's worth, and has done every damn thing the organization has asked for. He is exactly the type of player for us that deserves to be part of our end goal. No lateral move please.
  14. If I’m Seattle I work out a deal to trade for the guy with a little retention. Why pay full when they’d be happy to sell for half price?
  15. Always liked Yandle to be honest. So did his teammates from what I’ve read.
  16. Maybe, but look at both Tampa and Florida payrolls. There are guys making money, but outside of Bob there isn’t someone at the top of their position really. Tax free income is a thing. It’s a reason why so few sign in Canada I believe. I get what you mean by guys making their money but all things equal……..why wouldn’t you take less in an income tax free place compared to a high tax place?
  17. I don’t know. I think there is something to it. Money talks and if you are going to sign cheap, you’d still prefer it to go a longer way.
  18. Lol yup. A 2m deal with no income tax…….that’s very tempting.
  19. I’d have a hard time thinking any bought out player signing in a location with heavy taxation. A lower valued contract stretches much more in places like Florida or Vegas. I could see Vegas walking away from Martinez and picking up a guy like Suter on the cheap.
  20. It was a horrendous trade. It doesn’t signify anything except that we got hosed by Tampa that day.
  21. I’d sell as well but only if we get a real nhl ready guy in return. I’m not doing this for futures. We have those in spades.
  22. Btw , for those in the mood for a good documentary on English football, watch One Night in Turin. It’s on Amazon but not sure if prime Narrated by Gary Oldman. About the 1990 World Cup for England, very good though.
  23. What I blame Southgate for is not using Grealish in a pk and putting Kane first of all places when your best guy goes 4th (not 5th because it may never get to him if it goes all wrong). Rashford is a no brainer to take a pk though. He has taken plenty of big penalties for United so no qualms with that. Sancho after never playing is insane. That’s a lot on a young man for his country in that spot. Sako is odd because you didn’t use Grealish first who has played many bigger games in his club career. Especially considering you subbed him in for extra time. Sako should be like the 7th guy or so. No Sterling either?
