Well that’s the big question isn’t it? But I will say this. When our 1c is 1-2 concussions away from being done as a player, I’d always want to k ow we have someone on our roster to at least attempt to keep the opposition honest. Even teams not ready for a playoff need some sort of protection. Lindgren is great at being bruised and going strong but he isn’t it. Trouba is great at a big hit (when he doesn’t miss) but he isn’t really it. Smith is....well box of rocks so maybe he’s it but meh. I’d have had a lot less problem with this trade if there were so,e other toughness somewhere. Just because a season and a half into his nhl career Fox hasn’t been destroyed in a hit doesn’t mean it can never happen. Or Panarin. Would prefer to not see a Gaborik vs Carcillo type bout again in our future....

I guess but calling a fourth a decent pick is well, possible. Fourth founders are a gamble. There’s no guarantee anyone in that round has a high chance of NHL success. I do get the tough and x,y, or z but it fits also for everyone else we currently have on our 4th and part time third liners except none of them really even have toughness either. As for the expansion notion that trading him was good because we likely would have lost him in expansion. I think that trading him instead is a negative. I’d love for him to have been claimed in the expansion. That means we don’t lose someone else. But I’d love for Howden to be taken too. I’d rather not lose Gauthier even though I wouldn’t mind him being traded since his flashes of talent give him some value for something tangible. Like I said, I’m not losing sleep over this but we did make ourselves even more vanilla than we were. Feels like we are trying to be a college style team finding nhl success .

Duluth goalie went down with what looked like cramps and backup is in halfway through the 4th ot. Yikes.I believe it's the longest game in ncaa history now
-
Definitely the only one watching this but mine Duluth and North Dakota are going to the 4th ot right now in the Fargo regional final Duluth were up 2-0 with 2 minutes left and ND scored two goals with the goalie pulled to send it to ot. Duluth scores in the first ot but review calls it offsides and here we are going to the 4th ot. I’ll probably pass out soon but still lol. Wild rule they have in college regarding offside calls. If at any point during that offside play, if the other team had gained possession in their own zone but failed to clear it and the offside team scored, it cannot be reversed even if they were offside in the first place. Wacky.

I wouldn’t go as far as good roster management as I’d say indifferent roster management. He wasn’t really a problem and if it was to make roster space for Kravtsov so be it, but at least he somewhat had grit. My problem isn’t so much getting rid of him as it is that we have no other toughness really. You really can’t just have 4 lines of the same style and we still have a zero identity 4th line. We just became more vanilla and I wasn’t 3vrn sure that was actually possible. I’m also not so huge on specifically having your toughest guys be defensemen in terms of the possibility of fighting. If they do fight, it puts a strain on the rest of the D a lot more than if it’s a fwd but that may be nitpicking. Speaking of nitpicking. How sad is it that Lemieux had more points than Kakko? Jesus.

gdt: [RS] (#33) Rangers @ Philadelphia Flyers // Mika Smash

They have no adjustment or feel for the actual game in front of them. In sure part of that is coaching but also on tjr older players on this team. 5 minutes into the game you could tell the Flyers plan was to make sure 100% of east west passes were taken away. Rangers response? "well god damn it we will keep trying til the bitter end" when the easy adjustment is to go north south just long enough to keep the Flyers honest. Then when they have to manage for that you can go back to some east and west. -

Msg broadcast "I can't believe no one is talking about Fox around the NHL" while showing our pp goal.... All while ignoring it was Stromes cross crease perfect pass that actually was the reason for the tap in. -
Yeah I think that's probably accurate. And it seems like our approach is to hoard young "talent" a bit to a fault. It's great to have but at some point u have to think 3 years worth is long enough of a look to say it's hurt not going to work here.
