  1. Well that’s looking in hindsight. I was suggesting them offering it before Tampa had the wiggle room to offer what they did. 6.5 sounds better than no offer when Tampa had no space really. As for his production, personally I see him as a young Bergeron, but that’s just my opinion.

  3. Well I don’t know if it’s shooting your shot early. Cirelli is 23 and an a blossoming NHLer. You said it yourself, they have a stacked system talent wise. Sometimes too many picks means you’re never committing to any actual talent since it’s still a gamble what you get. Plus it’s not like Tampa was in much of a position to match anything let alone an offer blowing Cirelli out of the water. Assuming he would have taken a 6.5m deal for 5 years, you are committing to a talent you know will be around for a while and, at least in my opinion, isn’t a product of having elevated stats due to the talent he’s around. I actually believe he will be a top 2 way center in this league very soon.
  4. Yeah, I just find the whole thing strange. He signed, then a physical after discovered further testing was needed on something he’s had for years. I guess we will never know but it seems there’s a slight chance buying him out could have saved his life or potential for medical disaster. Scary stuff. He literally was playing a little under 5 months ago for us.
  5. He’s apparently had this his whole career. I wonder what changed as opposed to one doctor deciding it was more serious than Rangers doctors. Scary to think he might have been misdiagnosed by our doctors this whole time.
  6. Well yeah but Cirelli would have been in the future as a cup winning two way center capable of being a 1c eventually. Still think that made more sense than getting a stop gap
  7. The thing is, wouldn’t they have been better off offer sheeting Cirelli than taking on Steps?
  8. It’s against Austria but kid is having a game and a half tonight....
  9. The subconscious is pretty powerful when trying to forget previous trauma.
  10. Nah. It ends the silly notion that the teams somehow have some obligation to a junior tournament. They don’t. And for very good reason. Dach playing in the tournament honestly was just plain stupid lol.
  11. Anddd.......this is why you don’t let your top prospects play if they already are in the NHL or have nothing left to gain from juniors.
  12. 55-1 because we forfeit one game for violating covid rules last a strip club.
  13. Either that or allow each team to have the ability to agree to one franchise tag for a player that meets certain criteria where his cap hit doesn’t count if the player is willing to agree.I’ve said it before but something along the lines of 1. has to have been drafted by team 2. has to be the average of top x amount of salaries league wide. 3. can only be used once on a player for for a max amount of years and only one player per roster, say like a max of a 5-6 year deal. 4. if traded, cap hit them counts 5. Is available to use right after ELC but has to be signed during rfa period. Can eat into ufa years but since the max is a 5 or 6 or so year deal it won’t go too far into it. Just something along those lines so that a talented team that drafts well arent punished as much for having elite talent. Players union probably is okay with it because it helps alleviate a contract problem issue and allows teams more cap room for other players. League probably is okay with it because while yes, Winnipeg is never going to be that massively desirable place, it will help a player stay that came up with the organization by being paid very well before having to wait until 26+ years old or so. Keeping a franchise player helps jersey sales, tickets, etc. Just a thought.
  14. I think you can actually make a good argument that Character would be more of a distraction. He’s a leader but he’s not going to come in and lead a new locker room. We just “passed the torch” by moving on from Henrik but would instead bring in Chara? No thanks. Let this team have its core and future without delaying it another year with a guy who’s locker room presence might hinder a developing leader.
  15. I just think it’s nuts. Two bites of the apple. A team can get out of a cap with LTIR then also use it as a bargaining chip.
  16. See my thought on this is that while I agree, I think the players will just have to take less money. It is what it is. If the entire league is cash strapped we arent going to see any teams long term just buying up all the talent or anything. There just will be a newer norm in my opinion about what are acceptable contracts for ufa or rfa players and the like. You’re already sort of seeing it now. I don’t want less revenue per say, but i don’t want the integrity ruined either. I’m more worried about what happens when this is over. Are they going to remove ads saying they don’t need that extra revenue? No way. What happens when next offseason they are offered more money for advert 2 or 3 and they still are in flat cap land? I just don’t like opening up Pandora’s box so to speak.
  17. Nope. Still don’t like it. Prefer it ad free. I understand the manufacturer one but nothing else. Just my opinion.
  18. You know what Detroit should do? Ask for a 1st back as well, do the deal, then offer sheet Cirelli lol But in all seriousness, this is something that really needs to be fixed eventually.
  19. Lol only if we won. Otherwise fuck no. I gotta live on this island lol
  20. Meanwhile some asshat is on Facebook marketplace selling 13 of them for 1k each lol
  21. I mean nhl actually is a pretty solid release this year. Madden is good graphics wise but don’t expect to be blown away. I have that, fifa, and nhl and the series X next gen and it’s good.....but not like holy shot good. I don’t play nba but I’ve heard graphically that’s the best.
