  1. Pete compared ALF in terms of talent and skill set. That’s all anyone can say. It’s not a reach at all. Saying he has a certain players talent and skill does not mean he is saying ALF is guaranteed to produce exactly the same results. I think you are nitpicking a bit here.
  2. He’s going to be our Nathan MacKinnon. I see him projecting nearly exactly the same only ALF has better hands too. Leadership the same, style of using force, slightly less speed but softer hands. Think a slightly slower MacKinnon that has Kane’s hands, that will cost under 3m with bonuses for the next 3 years lol. They aren’t trading that.
  3. Hell with that logic we could just trade ADA or Strome plus our later pick for the 2 pick and get both Byfield and ALF right? Right? Lol Kings can afford either, both are proven. Might be the only time they get a proven player.
  4. Most Rangers this season had their best offensive season in the league or was on pace for their best season, he’s handled the 3 goalie situation very well, and developed guys like Fox, Chytil, Lindgren masterfully in ny opinion. Are we blaming him because Howden sucks? Or scrapping what an overall good season it was because they got slapped around in a 3 game covid play in with no fans? Because Kakko mentally wasn’t mature enough when he started the season? This isn’t a Tom Renney situation. Quinn is a good coach. He has some maturing to do but he will get there. Stay the course. I can’t believe we are even having this conversation.
  5. I hear you. I remembered you saying you wouldn’t trade the 1st so my repose was more general , not toward you. I’ll just say it here. Our management is not trading the 1st pick. Not this year with Laf being what he is. It’s career suicide to do so. No GM wants to be “ that guy” labeled cas the GM that passes up on a cant miss. It’s the same reason the Devils didn’t pass on Hughes even though Kakko is bigger, stronger, more “NHL ready.” If they passed on Hughes and he lit it up, you might as well kiss your reputation goodbye in my opinion. If you pick that consensus guy and it doesn’t work, it is what it is. If you pass up on him though and he’s a HOFer, well then you’re Dick. No one wants to be Dick.
  6. Definitely not. This kid is that good, especially for D of any kind. A 2 center makes such little sense when they have a 2c already they can keep short term. This is a franchise player. They have enough pieces to replace a Strome for an improvement without giving up a franchise player. For D, they could use complimentary pieces to who they have, not an impact player worth trading an 18 year old elite franchise player.
  7. So we want to trade a can't miss, leader, elite talent because we need to address the SECOND LINE center? Really? Hell we can resign Strome to a bridge and still have pieces like ADA, our other 1st, Georgiev, Kravtsov if need be if we feel we are THAT close.
  8. Tkachuk is a lw. It doesn't help us position wise. Byfield might not be there at 3. Lafreniere >>>>>> Tkachuk. It wound be easier to get an agitator and a center elsewhere than it would be to make a disaster trade like this. Nevermind that Tkachuk goes into this last year of elc next season. Will not happen.
  9. Perhaps he could have made this decision a bit earlier, like when he was sitting out the earlier games thinking. The postgame two days ago he sounded aloof and even said it doesn’t feel like playoff hockey, said he’s just trying to have fun and results aren’t really that important right now. Just sounds like he knew he wasn’t really into it.
  10. Now he does this? I understand completely but man, why wait til now to do this?
  11. Well the point is they were holding out. Not for long, but still. It happens.
  12. That’s not a possibility (I think). The only way his cap doesn’t count is if he officially retires from the NHL. When he does that though, he files papers and I believe he has to go through a process before he can return that takes a while to complete.
  13. If he retires no buyout. If he gets bought out, then doesn’t get good offers from nhl teams and returns home, it doesn’t cancel his buyout.
  14. You need another example that him that held out at some time? Rantanen, Conner, Laine? Or Tkachuk, Boesser, and Point from Tampa. All recently held out for what ever amount of times.
  15. It’s not even like they have a ton of contracts coming off the following year either. If they kept all three one one year show me deals, of 1.5m each, the following year they have 12m to work with assuming not one other transaction this offseason or during the year brings in a contract. That is impossible given they would still need another few deals to replace the Coleman’s and Coburn type of guys too plus a new backup after next season and still need more bodies in this offseason. This specific offseason they need to shed at least one big contract cup or not. Any good agent will look at these rfas and say “kid, they aren’t going to be able to pay you for two more contracts” with a two year flat cap.
  16. If he gets bought out he’s bought out and owed what he’s owed. What he does afterwards doesn’t reverse a buy out.
  17. Guys we can disagree but I don't think we need to resort to turning it into condescension. Like I said, there is no way to quantify a truth to this. Some think there isn't. I personally think there are some truths to both. I just look at interviews hours after we just get the 1st overall pick and JD already answering questions about Hank of all people as a sign there might be something to this. They look like completely different teams when he is in met in my opinion and that goes way before this play in of theirs. If you don't think there is a potential for a problem here I odnt know what to tell ya. We can all have our own opinions.
  18. Yeah, they are in very tough shape, and any team negotiating trades basically have the upper hand automatically. Time to strike and not go for a complimentary player on a team with enough horses to lose one, and we want a center. Yeah, just the years before the movement clauses they aren’t hindered by player wishes and blessings.
  19. But as of right now they can be traded right? That was just what I’m getting at. Most of those movement clauses don’t kick in for 3-4 seasons
  20. People like to make fun of Toronto for their hot mess but the majority of all their contracts don’t include movement clauses. Tavares is the only gigantic contract they have with a NMC right now. Mathews, Nylander, Mariner, Kerfoot, Johnsson, Kapanen, all can actually be traded.
  21. It’s not even taking into account that they look like they only have 10 forwards under contract too. Hell, someone might get Kucherov out of this lol
