  1. Yeah and even if they do that, it leaves them with around 1-2m for a 6th Nhl level D. They are going to have to shed a salary. The following players all have NTC or NMC Hedman (nmc), McD, Stamkos (nmc), Palat, Gourde, Johnson, Killorn. It’s like 45m in contracts very hard to move and player controlled. There are three big contracts they can move. Vasy, Point, and Kucherov who’s ntc kicks in next year which makes them even more screwed.
  2. I just don’t know how they afford Buch even at 3m. They have under 6m cap space before even signing Cirelli, Sergachev, or Cernack leaving them decimated at D with very little room to get anyone outside of keeping both Cernak and Sergachev. They can afford to lose a Point because of all the offense they have. I figured Miller because he might be closer to making the NHL and would be on an entry level deal. I’m not sure their prospect pool but still
  3. It’s a very difficult thing to debate since there is no way to quantify it. Maybe if we swap the idea of distraction with the idea that the others players might never fully feel like it’s their team as long as Hank is still here. Personally, I just think behind closed doors it has to be a bit uncomfortable seeing a 8m franchise goalie walking around the team with a voice given he plays once every 2 weeks. Might make a player that might otherwise try to take the reigns a bit hesitant as long as Hank is there. Not his fault, but it is what it is. The sooner it’s over the better for everyone I think. It’s like trying to have a nice house warming party with your friends and family. Only problem is, you bought the house from your ex wife, she’s at the party too, and she still hasn’t given all the keys back lol
  4. Well no, But there still are some teams that go into this offseason with a shit ton of cap space. Buffalo, Detroit, Ottawa, and NJ all have anywhere from 25-35m in cap room this offseason. One of those teams could easily add a good piece for pennies on the dollar
  5. Great point although I didn’t really publicly hear much backlash at Montreal for offering Aho.
  6. I have a feeling though offer sheeting Cirelli would only cause them to trade away someone else and leave us with no one. I almost feel like if you approached them prior and put up the offer of Kravtsov and the 1st for Point you can see where they stand for either guy technically. Point is worth more than that for sure, but cap wise they are just a mess and so many of their contracts are untouchable. I have a feeling they would prefer Miller though since they have only 3 d under contract.
  7. How did they do this season? I bet his one last kick at the can doesn’t help anything. This season for them was supposed to include playoffs.
  8. Our other 1st + Kravtsov to Tampa for Point since they can’t afford to keep everyone and no one wants most of their other contracts.
  9. Yeah its the same bringing up a 3 time cup champion, 2 time Hart AND Conn Smythe winner from a team that was bankrupt and on the brink of relocating to Henrik because well, he won a Vezina and has nice hair. There are faces of franchises and there are legends of the game. Big big difference. I can’t tell you exactly who could be distracted but the team plays different. They just do. In 2020 he has 1 win. ONE. His save percentages for those games he started since January are as follows. .862 .828 .733 .808 .919 (playoffs) .882 (playoffs) And that’s just this year when he isn’t in his last year as a Ranger. You know what? I know who’s it a distraction to. Him, because even for back up numbers those are dog poo. I don’t see how that’s even remotely healthy for the organization at all and I do worry that it could get worse and distract our incredibly young and inexperienced team and coach.
  10. I think i'd be fine with Cirelli save for one thing. If what he is doing is product of his environment rather than reflection of himself, we are really putting a lot of money into something that doesnt pan out. I think though you may have an easier time trading with them to get the guy rather than offer sheeting him. I think though they may be willing to move Pointe rather than Cirelli just because of the money he makes and figuring they can get more out of Cirelli for less cap hit. Likely he is going to agree to the area of 4m per right now as a bridge. Point for Carolinas 1st + Kravtsov. Something like that. Point goes RFA at the same time Mika goes UFA so you make your "franchise" decision then as to which one is a keeper or not. Likely you buy a bit more time with Point than you do with Zivy because of age and contract status.
  11. IIRC you cant extend Zib now since he has multiple years left. I believe you can only do that in the final year of his contract.
  12. I’ve said for a while that I really wish the NHL had some sort of cap franchise player exemption. One player, had to be drafted by said team, where his cap hit is excused. Sort of like a franchise tag but with other stipulations like he has to be paid in the top 10%, if traded both teams absorb his cap hit split, can only be used once for that player for a max of 4 or so years, and must be issued before his ufa year Yet can roll into ufa period. Likely it gets used on a player on his last contract before ufa. It’s almost as if u draft well, develop stars from within, you literally could never afford to keep a team together. At least some system where one player is exempt it helps somewhat keep a team together without it creating a monopoly.
  13. Legit the only person I’d trade the 1st over is MacKinnon and they would never do it. His cap hit and what he is makes him so appealing. Really wish there was an option to see if Laf or Kakko can play C but that just isn’t happening.
  14. At some point you have to trust the players you drafted and already have here. Eichel would be nice but at 10m when eventually you assume Kakko, Laf, Shesh all defintely will get major contract bumps. You have to just hope that Ziby is willing to take slightly less to stay here. Kreider did whether we like the deal or not. He would have gotten more on the open market.
  15. I don?t think the Rangers should under any circumstances try to pressure him, belittle him, or publicly give any negative statements. In the past I?ve said they should make a more forceful pitch towards him, privately. Very privately. I?m in favor of buying him out. I just am because I don?t think we are winning a cup next year and no way I think they should continually bring him back on one year deals unless he?s legit taking low end of the league backup money around 1-1.5m which in of itself is sort of a slap in the face towards his legacy here. I?m only in favor of buying him out for two reasons. The first is that I think Georgiev has more potential at this stage of his careerto trend up and cost relatively low, around the savings we would get with his buyout with a small amount left for a rainy day. The second is because I do personally think every day he dresses he is a slight distraction with the possibility of being a larger one if he starts saying he wants to play beyond next year. Heck you can make a case that him retiring at the end of next year becomes a pretty big distraction too when he plays one game every two weeks and is on the tour.
  16. Yeah I’m assuming Georgie is moved on this offseason. I’m saying when Hank is doing his Ranger retirement tour there will probably be questions for the whole team from time to time on what Hank means, his legacy, etc. then mid season when he reiterates he’s not done since he said previously he would like to play 1-2 more seasons yet still doesn’t want a trade though. I see that as a further distraction. Personally, I think this team plays very different with Hank there. Could be intimidation a bit, playing a bit tighter, or something along those lines. The eye test for me says they play much worse. I really don’t think it’s in the teams best interest to keep that going further past next year at all.
  17. I still think Hank staying means we keep the distraction and that’s not good for the club. What happens when mid season he says he thinks he can play another year or two?
  18. Well that’s all I meant. If he did, it was simply at times but they still picked him as opposed to another player. I might be wrong though because I think Drew is right. Can’t find any pics of him there with the A.
  19. Lol read like you were scolding me :( I could def be wrong but he does here so yeah. We good, no worries
  20. Relax lol. I said at times there, not regularly . I could be wrong but I thought I remembered some games. He regularly wears it now for us so the point still holds the same regardless.
  21. And Ziby already has been an alternate captan at the NHL level for bth the Senators at times and the Rangers now.
  22. I find this crap laughable with all do respect. So Laf is captain material because her have been told so by scouts. We?ve legit seen Zibanejad perform game in and game out. Not just pp. Not just ev. But pk, shootout, ot, everywhere. But he?s not captain material... Fuck he scored 5 this year and legit was on a pace to lead the league or compete for goals........yet a guy with 0 games with anyone above 20 years old is because we are told so. Lol
