Jules
Measuring a trip in time is such a lovely thing about rural life. I have so many friends who do that, that I've started doing it too. It's actually quite convenient.

It's actually quite convenient. In Western NY this is actually how I measure a trip. When someone asks me how far is it from Geneseo to Batavia, I go 35-40 minutes not 33 miles

We measure flights in hours, train rides in minutes, so why not car rides?

Mike
I've never heard any use miles. Most people don't. Once in a while someone uses mileage. I just break it down in my head quickly so I don't run the risk of looking like a moron. 80 miles? Oh yeah, sure, no problem, little over an hour. Jules
I've never heard any use miles. It's actually common in Europe and I know plenty of Americans who do it too. I also know city folks who count distances in subway or bus stops. "Yeah, it's five stops on the X line from here." Which really only works for locals.
