So he can't skate fast and stop in front of goalies? So can Matt Belesky....

Well, if Matt Belesky could do it well he would be playing in the NHL now and not have 1 point in the AHL. Kreider does offer quite a bit but his hands definitely limit the amount of goals/points he's going to get. I still think you're selling him a little short with the Belesky comparison though.

There does come a point when a player does something so well that his value rises above the sum of his parts. Some skills are just very valuable to have on a team and make the individual a bit of a unique asset. One example, Joe Pavelski's innate ability to tip in or deflect any puck fired at the net. There's no one like him, he'd be a 300 hitter in baseball.

Kreids has become an elite net front screener. His speed and strength allows him to chase down pucks as the F1, move it and then plant himself in front. He is responsible for multiple goals that he never even sees an assist from. His strength on his skates and fearlessness makes him tough to move. Add his speed, power, willingness to backcheck and board work, and he is close to one-of-a-kind.

What we must come to grips with is Kreids is a perfectly good second liner and good for the PP. He's not the guy you want on the top line of a top team.

In contrast, Zibs is different. He plays at high speed and thinks the game even faster. Then there are his hands and shot. Give him Panarin and Stone and they are a top 5 line in the league. Plus a balanced line, as Stone (and now Z) can play D. But we can fluff Z on another thread, especially if he keeps it up.
