[RS] (#4) Rangers at Toronto Maple Leafs — Another One

Drew a Penalty

Credit to the Rangers grit though, they could've folded like a cheap hooker after that disastrous 2nd period but dug in after that and Shesterkin was just blindingly good down the stretch especially that OT making saves he had no business getting in the way of. Aside from the 2 pts, really hope this gets Panarin going cause man do we need his production in the biggest way possible right now.

I actually think trouba's been much better this year.  Not $8.5M good but he's been better by quite a bit.

Yes. But he's also trying too hard, leaving himself out of position, leading to costly defensive gaffes

The negativity on these GDTs is so much worse this year than years past…it’s like the fourth game of the season and we’re already playoff emotion knee jerk nonsense.

We just won a game on the road against a big boy team in the league without three of our top 9. Really played even hockey period 1 and 3. Period 2? Well a good team is going to dominate you at times when you’re missing 1/3 of your lineup and that’s what happened. Our two top guys scored the goals, we hit everything that moved, and if this was a playoff game, you look at what happened here and think this is how you come home up 3-1 rather than 2-2.

last year we are nowhere close to winning this game.  This team would have folded on d and hoped to outscore the other guys, and failed. Worse, if it were playoffs, we’d probably have lost in the first period.

the last bit that’s mind boggling to me is how down people are in our new bottom 6. Those guys are light years better than anyone we’ve had in that role in a long time. Hunt reaves and Rooney were excellent in the third, created a bunch of chances, hit everything, and do exactly what you want that line to do.

that OT was also immense
chill out y’all

Sorry.

I think its a couple things, we're anxious. Just like the guys out there. We want it so badly.

Also. Most of it is bar room banter. Right now, that's the only outlet. Don't take it too seriously.

As for the bottom 6, my complaints are about the lines, not the players. I like the acquisitions. Been asking for them for years. So let's use them effectively. Gallant is new. He'll figure it out. Until then, we have GDTs.

Agree with most of this. If Gauthier could finish we could address our current top 6 problem and be up in this one late, but some games are bend-don't-break when it's not your night, yeah. They got outplayed, but they still played hard. Reaves, Rooney, Hunt and McKegg were factors, which is a major improvement of our 4th line/bottom 6 recently. And it wouldn't be Rangers hockey if a goalie didn't steal a few for us haha.
