The only way to make it not hurt the fans is with heavy, heavy fines. Taking away draft picks, losing salary cap space, that all just ends up hurting the fans more than anyone else. Ban the major administrators responsible (GMs, Coaches, Fehr) at least for a period of time, heavily fine the owner, and make the organization invest in grassroots outreach programs for young hockey players as well as professionals who may be put into a similar situation. Change the direction and make the future better, since we can't change the past.

No, it hurts the org. They're businesses. Fans do get hurt, but there's no getting around that. The league has taken away draft picks before. They should do it again, because that also hits their pocket.

amazing how the report shows the kid was harrassed on the ice during practices and in the locker room yet none of the players including those wearing letters knew nothing about it (outside of Sopel and Boynkin). Give me a break.  There's no way it can all be pawned off on just the coaching staff/management/owners/NHLPA.  This was a complete failure from the top down and players burying their head in the sand is pathetic.  Keith saying he didn't really know the video coach who played back the game tape after every game is just one of the worst examples. His interview yesterday went on for 15 mins of that level of bs.

If you wanna hurt the players for not stepping up for their team mate then take their rings away.  Vacate that cup.

The NCAA does that. Seems silly. But money, draft picks and suspensions is something people will take notice of and put people in the future on notice that this will cost you, and possibly your career.

Everything @Xander said minus the new team name is accurate. The organization needs to be purged. But it needs to be appropriately punished, too. I don't think the league has even come close to meeting that.

Those involved in the management group in 2010. And they should be banned from the NHL and IIHF.

Mary from accounting doesn't need to lose the job she got in 2018.

only way it happens/happened imo is if Bettman got enough pressure from enough owners and perhaps their new tv deal partners. You can't carry this kind of heavy negativity around sexual misconduct hoping it will go away if you choose to do nothing here. Quenneville is now the face of devil here in this instance.  Can't see how Cheveldayoff  survives if he doesn't at least the league can say hey it's 10 years later but we're not going to tolerate it. The fan focus across the league I  think would then become the players that are still in the league. Especially 2 or 3.

Can you guys please at least quote tidbits from the Athletic columns for those of us who don't pay.  There isn't much context when all you do is post a link

Link to twitter quotes

There's not pay here but lots of content. The guy does write for the athletic but summarized zoom press calls in a bunch of tweets with Toews and Kane last night. If you hit the link scroll down to 21 hours ago and they're all together.  There's probably 15-20 in a row worth reading.

  • Phil changed the title to Bowman Steps Down as GM of Blackhawks in Wake of Brad Aldrich Scandal

The statements from the players are ridiculous. If there's name-calling at practice, then how did the players not know?

No discipline for Cheveldayoff says a lot.

What Torts said is spot on - how everyone turns a blind eye and no one stands up for this guy is just...disgusting. Fuck em.

They all knew, other players have already made that clear.  The ones that are still playing are lying now to protect their image.

Thats what I was thinking- these guys knew. They're all massive assholes. Ive been in hockey locker rooms and theres taunting and joking but this is just sick.

Not sure how involved Chevy was. I am assuming not very if he was let off without punishment.
