Yeah, the term came from the original floppy disks, which were literally floppy and made of very thin pastick:

The 3.5 inch "floppy" disks we all call floppy were hard plastic and technically called diskettes, but everyone just called them floppy because that was the term the originals used.

They should have really tried stumping them and shown them a ZIP disk instead, or a laser disk.

NHL network asked contemporary players to name Beatles.  Most couldn't name any.  Even Hank, who was about 37 at the time and plays guitar in bands, could only name one: Ringo.

This sort of thing confirms that for most of these guys, life has been about hockey, hockey, hockey.

Most of the North American players, especially Canadians not from Eastern Ontario/Quebec, seem to go for Country.  European players seem to go for Euro Techno Weenie stuff (and probably playing with Alex Kovalev's trolls, too.)

Just stick with admiring these guys for their hockey skills.  Their cultural tastes can be brutal.  It took about 25 agonizing years to get hockey players off of mullets.

We devoted the better part of a thread to Ryan Callahan's utilization of his Kohl's Cash.

I recall short lived "Broadway Bernie" Nichols arriving in NY looking like a pimp, from Super Fly or Taxi Driver.
