When we had Valiquette, Lundqvist played more because Renney/Torts didn’t have the trust in Vally. Once Biron came and there was more trust, Henrik starts per year somehow shrunk. That had to do with the level of trust you have in the quality of backup you have. I have been saying all year that this was an issue, and should have been figured out in the summer. If I had to guess, the only reason Georgiev played today was that it was supposed to be game two of a back to back and Gallant said a while ago what game Geo was getting. Maybe, sure. I'm not defending Geo because he's terrible, I'm just saying it's not like there's no logic behind why he was playing tonight or that he shouldn't have been. Third line played huge, again, kakko with a fantastic finish, game winner was great. But you have to credit gallant with this one. He made the change with hunt and georgiev to send a message that there are no nights off, and the message was received. Team dominated the third and shouldn’t have needed a game winner in the last second but hey, that’s what we got. I want everyone to ask themselves, does Quinn make the same move last year? Been saying it all year that there is something different about this team, and tonight the difference was the coach.
