Phil
Quote “The biggest change for me is acknowledging that I don’t need anyone else’s validation at the end of the day. When I look in the mirror, I’m looking at the only person who can give me validation, praise and belief,” Kreider told The Post before the match. “I want to be the best player I possibly can to help the group and I’m at the point now where I know what that entails. “So shame on me if I’m looking somewhere else for that validation. The more confident I can be in my own game and what I bring to the team on a nightly basis and understanding what my role is and who I am in that locker room, ultimately I’ll be better off and better able to contribute to our group.” Quote Kreider is the lone Blueblooded forwards of the group that once featured Ryan Callahan, Derek Stepan, Brandon Dubinsky, J.T. Miller, Artem Anisimov and Carl Hagelin to make to age 30 as a Ranger. His game has evolved in concert with his mentality. He gives great credit in his growth to Marty St. Louis, who continues to impart wisdom to his one-time teammate. “In terms of outside validation, it was more of looking in other places for answers, looking to my teammates, management, whatever it may be,” Kreider said. “I think [growth] comes from maturity and experience but I’ve had conversations with people, I’ve sought those conversations outside of the season and the game of hockey, whether it be working with Marty, speaking with family members, friends, loved one, or speaking with specialists on the matter. “I’ve tried to understand who I am as a person and the kind of leader I want to be. I know what I can be, but I think there are times in my career I probably lost that self-awareness and belief. I’ve said this before, but you never arrive in this league, and when you think you’ve arrived you’re cooked. That’s one of the biggest things I took from Marty. You’ve got to keep getting better. https://nypost.com/2022/01/19/inside-chris-kreiders-rangers-transformation-from-streaky-scorer-to-leading-man/?utm_source=twitter_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site buttons&utm_campaign=site buttons
4EverRangerFrank
Marty St. Louis. Chris picked the right guy to learn from. Just wished it had happened many, many years ago. Not complaining as much as observing. Press on young man.
Drew a Penalty
That St. Louis still has an impact on the current team goes to show how important that deal for him was. It's a shame they couldn't get him or Richards sooner. 2

Jdog99
If this is the player we have for the next 4-5 seasons, we're in pretty good shape. But its only been half a season thus far.
Pete
He's shut me up about him this year, good for him.
ThirtyONE
I know everyone's tired of this question, but I do still wonder if CK might just be the next captain. No, one good season does not make someone a captain, but his new mentality seems obvious. I'm happy for the guy and happy for the Rangers who probably felt like shit about his deal when they won the lottery. (Amazing how that's panned out, BTW.) Go Blue
They got players to deal with the rough stuff. The org expected him to do it all but the workload is too much. Have to spread the responsibility and it seems to have worked blowing people up takes a toll
Zuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuc
200 games less then the 2nd. Kreider really is the Tip King. This is just "Tip" goals, not re-directions. So it's only goals that's intentionally tipped with the stick, not goals off your ass etc.

This is from the 2016 season. #2-10 are separated by 5 goals and Kreids has 16 more than #2. 1
Ozzy
"Just the tip".... Good work on that one, Zuuuc man!!!
Sharpshooter
Seeing Kreider even have a remote chance at 50 goals is something I never thought I'd see. I was at the point where I'd be thrilled if he finally got to 30.
Ozzy
That contract looks pretty damn decent right now!!! I remember almost having a seizure when they resigned him.... Sometimes I like being wrong!!!! LOL
AliveIn94
Guy always had the tools, that's why I believe in Kakko and Laf reaching their potential. Krieder rarely looks lost or not engaged. The bromance with Mika must help too haha.
Sharpshooter
The late bloomer, Chris Kreider!
LindG1000
I think the thing to keep in mind is that there is no reasonable way for us to expect him to do this again, ever. He's having an absolutely mindblowing career year at 30 - shit, he's two off Ovechkin for the goalscoring lead. The odds you'd have gotten on that pre-season are mindnumbing (he was +20000 for the Hart, as an example). It's a gift and the team has to capitalize on it. Sharpshooter
While I wouldn't necessarily expect him to go to toe to toe with Ovechkin in goals every year, it's quite possible that this consistency could be the new normal for him. Perhaps he's just 'arrived' as a consistent hockey player, maybe it's coaching, maybe it's just him being a late bloomer or maybe taking a more leadership role has helped. It could be all of those things.

It could be all of those things. I think that so long as he has the strength and energy to go to the net, he's going to be a terror on the power play. That said, you're talking about him being three goals off his career high before the halfway point of the season. If it happens again, great, but I wouldn't wait for it or bank on it. The bigger point is that when you have your top 2 Cs playing as they are, your top 2 LWs playing as they are, your Norris defender and your damn near Hart winner goalie playing as they are? You go all in.
Keirik
I don’t see him getting 50. I figure he will end up with around 39-42 by years end. Hopefully what he’s learned from this season can carry over into the next couple of years to be counted on for 35 each season.
Sharpshooter
If he is a late bloomer type, then the contract will look better now than it perhaps did initially. lol
Costa
This is all fine and good but at the end of the day, CK and Trouba for that matter, will end up as cap casualties once they're deals become M-NTC's. Then the question is who gets shipped out or not resigned to keep CK and/or Trouba? Edited January 20, 2022 by Costa
Patrick Bateman
Still convinced he will somehow end up with 28 lol
Go Blue
The management expected him to be the muscle and score you just can’t bang every game, it’s not possible, you get banged up too we finally got guys to fill that role and let Kreider concentrate on scoring points Edited January 21, 2022 by Go Blue
