Cash or Czech
Is it confirmed 1-year? Means we're either moving Nemeth/Chytil to retain Kakko, or we're trading Kakko. Edited July 13, 2022 by Cash or Czech

RichieNextel305
Good deal. Good contract. Right around what I’ve expected him to sign. Will be a good veteran backup behind Igor. I think you guys know how I feel about this one.

It is a good value for a team tight on cap space, but he's definitely on the older side.
BlairBettsBlocksEverything
1 year gap for Garand to get a year in the AHL before he comes to the show. Solid proven backup goalie

Halak at 37 years old is not the same as a starting NHL goalie at 37 years old. He's only played around 550 games, not that much mileage on that body unlike most goalies his age. I think he should more than be able to handle 25-30 games.

Yeah, exactly. Georgiev is too fussy to be a true backup.
RichieNextel305
This Rangers team is going to be extremely strong. Definitely trending in right direction. And man oh man, if Patrick Kane ever slid into this line up mid-season… 1

Hopefully Chytil can too for more than 20 games. Still great moves today so far anyway and Kane would be huge.
RichieNextel305
I really do believe Lafreniere may be staring down 30 goals this year. I think he’s ready for the jump.

That was my reservation, too, but of who was left, this is the best possible signing they could have made. My guess is he'll get close to that, but it's gonna be tight. This is probably his last year in the league.

OK, but he literally hasn't in three years, and he's consistently gotten worse year-over-year since his last 30-game season. .919, .905, .903. Those last two years were on a bad Canucks team, but you need more than this.
RichieNextel305
Halak is a pro. This reminds me of when we signed Biron. He has experience in all roles, won’t be rattled, will be a good veteran for Allaire to work with and good for Igor to have as backup. Just a pro.
