After watching Duclair the other night, I think @Phil may have a good idea that he may be another guy we can pursue at the TDL as a rental, other than Tank

He really had some jump the other night. I don't remember him being that fast.

I'd think lots of teams may have interest.  He may fetch a pretty penny.

I agree that they need (or likely will end up needing) a wing for Zibanejad and Kreider. Duclair would be positive. Tarasenko would be positive. There’s a few guys the Rangers could target but I’m really not sure how it would work cap wise or asset wise.

Both suggestions are awesome ideas. We know Tarasenko can work here. After watching Duclair on Sunday, I'm on board to bring him over!

2 things worry me about Duclair.

1. What would it cost the Rangers?  Kakko?

2. Why doesn't any team want to keep Duclair?

No idea on cost.

As to the other thing…. Yeah. Me too a little.

I think it has something to do with the injuries he’s had.

And surely the flat cap hasn’t helped him.

But you’d think someone would want a guy who can score 20-30 goals and is still only 28.

Looked like Tarasenko was auditioning to return last night. If the Sens drop out of any chance at the playoffs, he's a good fit. The 2nd year of his contract might not even be that bad with a rising cap. Question becomes what will they want, and on that, Othmann and Perreault are probably nonstarters. Being they were docked a 1st round draft pick, that could work.

I think Tarasenko is the pick if it all lines up, and is on a 1 year deal.

They aren’t likely to get a premium prospect for a rental.

A 1st probably gets that deal done.

I would trade a 1st for Tarasenko in a second.  They need another RW.

They’ll need retention… and possibly double retention.

So the total cost will likely be higher.

But the big piece going the other way will likely be that first.
