Yes, let's give our blossoming franchise player a position on the powerplay where he wouldn't even have the puck. What an absolutely brilliant idea on how not to develop talent lol

Let's be honest, it's no more or less brilliant than any of the ideas you throw out, like experimenting with one of the best PPs in the league "just because!"

Secondly the Rangers aren't in the business of developing, that's what the AHL is for.

Thirdly, Lafreniere isn't developing anymore. He's on his way to peaking.

Fourthly, given the current roster construction and the likelihood of who can be traded, that's what you're looking at. At some point you have to deal with the reality of what is, and not your fantasies based on who you love/hate this week.

It's way less brilliant 😉

Why don’t you lighten up today ? You make @Albatrosss scared when you’re cranky

My team lost last night, why should I lighten up? You on the other hand, we know why you're giddy.

There were points in this one where I thought we could pull it out, and then there were a lot more moments where we were the 3rd best team on the ice.  Yeah I hate Dan O' Rourke too, but we just got pinned in our zone for way too long.

Bad turnovers and if Igor wasn't super human, this series probably would be over after this one.

Here are the Top 14 nominees for tonight's “Ozzy Quote of the GDT”:

Pretty sure I just heard a mouse fart.

I said the same thing when this one ended;  I knew going into Florida down 3-2 was probably about the worst case scenario, but I still had hope we could pull off a miracle with Igor.

The winning quote for tonight’s GDT goes to Abe!!  @Abe Froman!!  Maybe we should get a few binky's for some of our guys, man!  Seems to make him play a lot tougher and better than our marshmallows!

NHL Network is replaying game 4 @ Panthers.

We were up 2 games to 1.

We were up 1-0 after Vinnie scores a Power Play Goal halfway through the 1st.

We were oh so close.

Not really.  We had no business being up 2-1, and we were decidedly outplayed in games 4-6.  It was similar to 2022, when we were up 2-0 against Tampa and up 2-0 in Game 3 before they took charge and dominated us for four straight games.

Yes, they really were right there in every game. Every game was winnable. The margins were razor thin.

You can go back and try to retcon some revisionist history, but the scoreboard doesn't lie.

They’re wanting to talk about the analytics and shit… which doesn’t matter.

In fact… it often hurts you.

Thanks to analytics, the Yankees have 2 superstars, and 10 guys who struggle to hit .245, and a pitching staff that throws hard, but has no consistency and can’t stay healthy.

I mean, yes really. No one cares how you get there, just that you got there. We took care of business in 2 of the 3 games. It’s the playoffs. Not looking for Picasso’s every night. If Mika doesn’t ring it off the crossbar late in the 1st on the PP (would have given us a 2-0 lead heading into the intermission), I really wonder if Florida begins to panics a little bit.

So close.

Super close. We were a 1C away.

Didn't seem to help Edmonton. Struggling against Barkov is what it is. He's one of the most elite to way centers in the game.

Who also didn't score much the last month of the playoffs.

So if he played for the Rangers you would likely see a lot of complaining about him anyway.

Why was this bumped? How dare you. lol

But, yeah, this definitely sucked. I really thought this was their year. Career years from some guys and everything just seemed to be lining up. Florida was a buzz saw and probably really the only bad matchup for the Rangers going into the postseason. Having said that, there were right there with them.

None of us wanted the Rangers meeting up with the Panthers at any point.  It was just a bad matchup due to the number of soft players that Rangers have in the top 6 and the fact that the Panthers basically told soft players to go away last season.

Indeed.

Yeah, it's not all surprising the Rangers didn't do a whole lot anyway. I don't know what people were expecting, really. They didn't have a ton of cap, they needed to re-sign some guys and they're also thinking towards next season as well. Plus, this is a really good team anyway. Getting Smith isn't sexy, but it's a fine pickup given their constraints. Plus, you have to consider/hope that some of our young guys continue to mature and improve. The Trouba situation was bad, but as far as as personnel goes, nothing much was going to happen. A lot of the deals handed out this offseason have been insane.

Trouba was so bad in the playoffs. So fucking bad. I wish NHL Network would burn the tape on some of these games. Even ones with good outcomes. Game 3 against Florida, he was just a total disaster. Beat so often, lunging at guys, bad penalties at bad times, on the ice for 2 of the 4 goals against and in the box I believe for another one.

Said it in the off-season thread but Laviolette needs to shrink his ice time down. Maybe not to Stu Bickel territory. But you can’t just trust this guy on the ice in a tight game. He’s too prone to stupidity, to being beat, to taking a horrible penalty. Captaincy or not, can’t have him on the ice late in games like that. It’s brutal to see.

It absolutely sucks he’s still here.
