Johnny Gaudreau and His Brother Matthew Gaudreau Dead After Being Struck by Vehicle in New Jersey

Recommended Posts

So, there was a lot of speculation last night about this on Twitter. And things got extremely ugly with unconfirmed reports. Unfortunately, they ended up being true.

Him and his brother Matthew were riding bikes and were hit by a drunk driver in New Jersey. A story came out about that. And then rumors began circulating that it was him and his brother.

Tim Peel confirmed it. A lot of people jumped down his throat. Saying it was wrong to do before knowing for sure, even though Peel claimed to have people telling him it was true that it was him and his brother.

Just an unimaginable, sickening tragedy. I can’t even begin to comprehend. This is obviously an enormous loss for the hockey world.

As if this story couldn’t get anymore sad, his sister was supposed to be getting married today.

Just so upsetting on so many different levels. Can’t even begin to explain.

Here is the link to the story about the situation that now confirms that it was both Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau:

It was so messy. The news of the accident came out and NJSP didn’t release the names of who it was.

Then Peel was confirming. People jumped down his throat. I saw this all last night and was messaging Phil because I didn’t want to post what may have been an internet hoax here.

Its disgusting that two people died in an unfortunate, disturbing manner. Just an absolute tragedy.

 Bury him under the prison.

How people in this day and age can still get behind a wheel while drunk is insane to me.

There’s literally never an excuse for it. Especially in a day and age where you can have an Uber pick you up within 5 minutes. It’s inexcusable.

This is such a horrific cultural issue for us still 40 years after MADD turned it into a crucible of American jurisprudence.

We need key laws for all bars/pubs/restaurants that serve alcoholic beverages.

You surrender your key when you are served and you can get it back by blowing into a tube when the check is paid.

The driver, 43-year-old Sean Higgins, had been trying to pass a slower-moving sedan and SUV in front of him in the northbound lanes, so he moved to the southbound lanes and passed the sedan, police said. Higgins was trying to re-enter the northbound lane “when the SUV in front of Higgins moved to the middle of the roadway, splitting the north and south lanes to safely pass” the cyclists, police said.

Higgins then allegedly tried to pass the SUV on the right, and that’s when he struck the brothers, according to police.

Supposedly visibility wasn't the best to begin with. This is just insanely stupid.

Sadly his drunkeness will probably help him in court....

People think they can get away with it because unfortunately people do it all the time without incident and it just permeates the belief that it’s ok.

Statistically it’s something that on the average gets done hundreds upon hundreds of times for someone to get caught doing it once.

It’s just so stupid
